While Happy Mango might be one of the newest spots in Atlanta for baby gear, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t earned a reputation as a trusted favorite. The shop was started by Phnewfula Frederiksen back in 2009. Phnewfula had two young children and grew frustrated with the limited selection of eco-friendly baby clothes. She decided to remedy this by starting her own shop online. She gave it a name to honor her father’s home in St. Thomas and filled it with products she knew families would adore. The store quickly grew a following, and eventually, it was time for her to launch a brick-and-mortar location. Phnewfula launched her first physical shop in Kirkwood in 2016 before moving Happy Mango to The Works in 2022. Today, this Black-owned business maintains a faithful following of families who love sustainable kids’ fashion and helpful gear.
